Information on the Berlin S line : The route network of the Berlin S-Bahn currently covers 331.5 km. There are 15 lines serving 166 stations. The BR 481 is the youngest series of the S-Bahn Berlin and currently the most used. Between 1996 and 2004, 500 quarter trains were built. After some paintwork experiments, all S-Bahn trains have been painted in the traditional colors since 2007.
History: The first S-Bahn trains ran as early as 1925. After the fall of the Berlin Wall in 1989, the focus was on merging the two S-Bahn networks East and West. Until the end of 1993, the S-Bahn in Berlin was operated jointly by the Deutsche Reichsbahn and the BVG. At the turn of the year 1993/1994, the Deutsche Reichsbahn and the Deutsche Bundesbahn merged to form the Deutsche Bahn, and the S-Bahn operation was also taken over by the Deutsche Bahn
